Frequently Asked Questions

How many pesticide brand products are registered in India?

NaPanta lists 1880 brand products across 454 active ingredients, all registered with the Central Insecticides Board & Registration Committee (CIB&RC) under the Insecticides Act 1968. Each product page shows the manufacturer, the active ingredient and its registered label dosage.

What is the difference between a technical name and a brand name?

The technical name is the active ingredient — for example plant growth regulators. A brand name is the trade name a company sells it under. Many brands can share one active ingredient at the same concentration, so comparing brands on the same technical is the simplest way to compare price.

Do different brands of the same pesticide work differently?

If two products carry the same active ingredient at the same concentration and formulation, their registered label dose and efficacy are the same. Differences come down to price, pack sizes, local availability and formulation quality. Always compare the technical name on the label rather than the brand.

How do I check a pesticide brand is genuine?

Every genuine product carries a CIB&RC registration number, the active ingredient with its percentage, a batch number, manufacture and expiry dates, and the coloured toxicity triangle. Buy only from a licensed dealer and insist on a printed bill — it is your proof if the product fails.

Is the dosage the same for every brand of one active ingredient?

Yes. The registered label dose is set per active ingredient, crop and target pest, not per brand. Each technical page on NaPanta lists the CIB&RC dose, water volume and pre-harvest interval that apply to every brand of that ingredient.
