Krishi Vigyan Kendras in India

A Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) is a farm science centre established by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) to provide technology demonstration, extension, and training services directly to farmers. Each KVK is operated through a host organisation such as a state agricultural university, ICAR institute, NGO or other agricultural body.

India has 728 KVKs spread across all states and union territories, covering nearly every district of the country. NaPanta lists KVKs across 33 states and UTs with address, host organisation, phone and email details.

KVKs provide on-farm technology demonstrations, soil and water testing, integrated pest management guidance, crop variety trials, post-harvest technology training, livestock management advice, and short-term vocational training for farm women and rural youth. Training programmes are generally free for farmers.

Yes. Most KVK training programmes, demonstrations, and advisory services are free for farmers, as KVKs are fully funded by ICAR under the National Agricultural Research System.
