Paddy

Precautionary Measures

  • The prevailing night temperatures and cloudy weather conditions are favourable to cause stem borer incidence in rice.
  • Monitor the pest, if noticed, apply Chlorantraniliprole 0.4 G granules @ 4 kg per acre in transplanted (15-20 days after transplanting stage) rice fields during clear sky.
  • Prevailing cloudy, humid and intermittent rainfall conditions are favourable for rice hispa incidence. Monitor the symptoms for pest incidence, if noticed, spray Profenofos @ 2 ml per liter of water.

Gall Midge

  • The prevailing weather conditions are favourable to cause gall midge incidence in rice.
  • Monitor the pest, if noticed, apply Fipronil 0.6 G granules @ 4 kg along with 20 kg sand per acre when rains cease.

Maize

Fall Army Worm

  • Monitor the Fall Armyworm infestation, if noticed, apply Emamectin benzoate @ 0.4 g or Chlorantraniliprole @ 0.4 ml per liter of water into the maize whorls.

Bacterial stalk rot

  • The prevailing warm, humid and wet weather with excess soil moisture favours bacterial stalk rot in maize.
  • If symptoms appear, drain excess water from the field and apply bleaching powder @ 4 kg/acre around the base of affected stems.

Cotton

Parawilt

  • If cotton crop is subjected to waterlogging due to recent rains, there is chance of its subjection to Parawilt.
  • To prevent it, drain out excess water from fields and drench with Polyfeed (19:19:19) or Multi-K (13:0:45) or Urea @ 10 gm. along with Copper Oxychloride @ 3 gm. or Carbendazim @ 1 gm. per liter of water during clear sky.

Sucking pests

  • Farmers are advised to install yellow sticky traps @ 10 traps per acre to monitor the incidence of sucking pests in cotton.
  • If thrips and aphids are observed, spray neem oil 1500 ppm @ 5 ml per liter of water.
  • If pest incidence is high, spray Fipronil @ 2 ml or Flonicamid @ 0.3 g per liter of water during clear weather conditions for effective pest management.

Soybean

Spodoptera

  • Warm, humid and cloudy weather with rainfall during the previous week is favourable for tobacco caterpillar incidence in soybean.
  • If infestation is noticed, spray Novaluron @ 1 ml. or Chlorantraniliprole @ 0.3 ml. per liter of water during clear sky.

Red Gram

Phythopthora wilt

  • Due to recent rains, there is chance of occurrence of phythopthora wilt in redgram.
  • If the symptoms are found, drench with Metalaxyl @ 2 gm. per liter of water when rains cease.

Turmeric

Iron deficiency

  • Due to recent rainfall, favourable conditions may develop for rhizome rot in turmeric.
  • If symptoms are observed, drench the soil around the plant base with Copper oxychloride @ 3 gm. or Metalaxyl + Mancozeb @ 1 gm. per liter of water.

Mango

Fertilizer Management

  • Farmers are advised to prune mango orchards and, taking advantage of the current rainfall, apply farmyard manure (FYM)/poultry manure @ 80–100 kg or vermicompost @ 10 kg or urea @ 2.2 kg + muriate of potash (MOP) @ 1.6 kg + single super phosphate (SSP) @ 6 kg per tree in tree basins located 1.5– 2.0 m away from the trunk for mango trees aged 10 years or more.

Tomato

Alternaria leaf spot

  • Prevailing cloudy weather conditions are favourable to cause Alternaria leaf spot disease in vegetable crops.
  • If the symptoms are found, spray Carbendazim @ 1 gm. (or) Propiconazole @ 1ml. per liter of water for about 2 times at 15 days interval when rains cease.
