  • Light Trap for Pest Control Farmers are advised to use light traps to keep a check on pest population. This causes less damage to useful insects. For making a light trap, a bulb should be fixed above a tumbler (either plastic or tin) having a mixture of water and a few drops of any insecticide. The insects get attracted towards the light, fall in the solution and die. False Smut Disease in Paddy For the control of false smut disease in paddy, spray Propiconazole @ 500 ml or Carbendazim 50% WP @ 500 g per hectare in 500 litres of water at the panicle emergence stage. Potato Tuber Treatment If potatoes have not been treated before cold storage, remove the potatoes meant for early planting from the cold storage and treat the tubers with a 3% boric acid solution for 30 minutes. After treatment, dry the tubers in a shaded place. Do not treat sprouted seed potatoes.
