Black Gram

Seed Rate

  • Use seed rate of 20 kg/ha.

Seed Treatment

  • For black gram seeds 100 ppm ZnSo4 for 3 hours in a seed to solution ratio of 1:0.3 and dry back the seed to original seed moisture content under shade.

Green Gram

Seed Rate

  • Use seed rate of 20 kg/ha.

Seed Treatment

  • Harden the green gram seed in 100 ppm MnSo4 for 3 hours in a seed to solution ratio of 1:0.3 and dry back the seed to original seed moisture content under shade.

Sorghum

Seed Rate

  • Adopt the seed rate of 15 kg/ ha for sorghum.

Seed Treatment

  • The seeds are to be soaked in 2% potassium dihydrogen phosphate or 2% KCl solution for 6 hours in equal volume and then dried back to its original moisture content in shade and are used for sowing.

Seed Pelleting

  • For minimizing the pest and disease incidence in sorghum, the seeds are to be pelletized with 15 g of chloropyriphos in 150 ml of gum and shade dried.

Cotton

Seed Rate

  • Use 15 kg of delinted cotton.

Seed Varieties

  • Use KC 3 and K 12 under dry land conditions.

Seed Treatment

  • Soak the seeds in equal volume of Pungam leaf extract (1%) for 8 hours and dry back to original moisture to increase germination and vigour. Dry the seeds in shade.

Seed Pelleting

  • Seeds coated with arappu leaf powder (100g/ kg) along with DAP (40g/ kg), micronutrient mixture (15g/ kg) and azosphyrillum (200 g/ ha), Phophobacteria (200 g/ ha) or azophos (400g/ ha) using 5% maitha solution or gruel as adhesive (300 ml/ kg) to increase the germination and vigour.

  • In order to mitigate the effect of high temperature on animals provide adequate cool drinking water, green fodder, addition of electrolytes and vitamin C in drinking water along with feeding management and spray water on gunny bags surrounding the cattle shed and the use of foggers.
