General Advisory
- The combination of warm daytime temperatures and high relative humidity creates a conducive environment for fungal pathogens. Routinely monitor rice and vegetable crops for blast, blight, or powdery mildew. Sowing or transplanting work can safely begin in fields that are already fully prepared. Wet and muddy soil surfaces increase the threat of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) in cattle and Ranikhet disease in poultry. Keep animal sheds completely clean, dry, and well-ventilated. Store livestock feed in dry, airtight bins. Damp environments rapidly cause mold development, making feed toxic with aflatoxins.
