- It is advised to suspend the intercultural operations such as weeding, hoeing, fertilizer application, agrochemicals spraying for next 3 to 4 day on accounts of thunderstorm and lightning, gusty winds and heavy rainfall.
- Harvesting and threshing of mature black gram, green gram and other kharif crops should be completed immediately. If threshing is not possible, the harvested crop should be stored on a high ground in the field or in the threshing yard. Threshing should be completed. To prevent damage from rain, the harvested crop should be covered with plastic sheet or tarpaulin
- Considering the possibility of windstorms, support vegetables and orchards with bamboo.
- To prevent possible damage from rain to the agricultural produce brought for sale by farmers in the Agricultural Produce Market Committee or in the open market, avoid storing the agricultural produce in the open, store the agricultural produce in the shed.
- On days when thunderstorms and lightning are forecast, do not allow cattle, buffaloes, goats, sheep, or other livestock to graze in open fields. Keep animals away from open water bodies such as rivers and ponds, as well as tractors and other metal equipment. Ensure adequate fodder and drinking water is available inside the animal shelter. Farmers and farm workers should take necessary precautions to protect themselves and their livestock from lightning. Do not take shelter under trees, and do not keep livestock under trees during thunderstorms.
- Spraying of essential agricultural chemicals should be done after the onset of rain.
