Sunflower

Sowing

  • In medium black soils, sowing of Sunflower may be taken up.

Seed Treatment

  • Before sowing, soak the every one Kg of sunflower seeds in a solution prepared by dissolving 30 g of Calcium Chloride in 1.5 liter of water for 6 hours, shade dry and treat with Imidachloprid insecticide at the rate of 5.0 g and Azospirilum at the rate of 40 g of per Kg of seed. This will improve the germination percentage, vigour of the seedlings and yield. In addition, it will induce drought resistance in the crop and also help to save 25 per cent Nitrogen requirement of the crop.

Sorghum

Sowing

  • In medium black soils, sowing of Sorghum may be taken up.
  • Inter crop: In medium black soils, sowing of Sorghum + Chickpea (2:1) may be taken up.

Seed Treatment

  • Before sowing, soak the every one Kg of Rabi sorghum seeds in a solution prepared by dissolving 30 g of Calcium Chloride in 1.5 liter of water for 8 hours, shade dry and then treat 3 Kg seeds required for sowing one acre with, 200 gram Azospirilum + 6 gram sulphur + 6 gram Capton or Thiram or Carbandezim or 12 gram Tricoderma This will induce drought resistance in the crop, improve the vigour of the crop and yield, this will also reduce the incidence of insect and disease in the crop.

Pigeon Pea

Fertilizers

  • Remove weeds, take up inter cultivation and apply DAP fertilizer as top dressing.
  • Remove terminal bud so as to facilitate enhanced branching, more number of pods per plants thus leading to higher yields.

Pod Borer

  • To control Pod borer insect in pigeon pea, the following measures should be followed.
  • Erect the branched wooden poles (taller than the crop) in red gram field so as to facilitate the birds to sit on it and they can easily see the larvae of Heliothis pod borer and eat them.
  • Install 4-5 Furomen traps in ane acre of pigeon pea field to attract moths and thus they are killed in the trap. If more than 10 moths are found per trap or one to two eggs or one larva of pets are found on the flowering plant, then take up control measures.
  • If more than one egg of the pests are noticed per plant, take up spraying of ovicidal insecticide Methomyl 40 SP, 0.75 gram or Prophenophas 50 EC, 2 ml dissolved in one liter of water.
  • If more than one larvae are found per plant- shake the plant vigorously- collect the larvae fallen on the ground and kill them.
  • Remove the grown up larvae by hand picking and kill.

Second Spray

  • As second spray, spray the crop with 5 per cent neem seed extract or 0.5 per cent chilli extract or 0.25 per cent garlic extract. If the neem seeds are not available, then, take up spraying of any neem based insecticide at the rate of 2 ml per liter of water.

Third Spray

  • As a third spray, take up spraying of NPV, bio insecticide, at the rate of 100 LE per acre i.e., 0.75 ml per liter of water. Mix 100 gram blue powder and 500 gram Jaggery to the solution being used for one acre. Take up spraying in the early morning or late evening hours.

Fourth Spray

  • As a fourth spray, take up spraying of 1 ml Monocrotophos or 2.5 ml Chlorpyriphos or 2 ml Quinolphos dissolved in one liter of water.

Do's

  • Do not use the same insecticide repeatedly.
  • Purchase the insecticides from authorized seller only.
  • Use only hand operated pumps for spraying. Do not use power sprayer or battery operated pumps.

Phytopthera Blight

  • To manage Phytopthera Blight, take up spraying of 2.5 g Ridomyl Gold dissolved in one liter of water.

Wilt

  • Uproot and destroy wilt infected plant.

Wilt and sterility mosaic diseases

  • To manage wilt and sterility mosaic diseases, uproot and destroy the infected plant and take up spraying of 2.5 ml Dicofal dissolved in one liter of water.

Sucking pests

  • To manage sucking pests, take up spraying of 0.3 ml Imidachloprid or 0.25 gram Thiomethoxam dissolved in one liter of water.

Groundnut

Leaf Minor

  • To manage leaf minor take up spraying of Carbaryl 50 WP 0.2% Spray or Dimethoate 30 EC (2 ml/lit).

Sucking pests

  • To manage sucking pests, take up spraying of 0.3 ml Imidachloprid or 0.25 gram Thiomethoxam dissolved in one liter of water.

Sugarcane

Growth stage - Irrigation

  • Crop is at grand growth stage (120 days after planting and lasts up to 270 days) in Eksali cropping. Irrigation can be given at weekly interval (for medium type of soil). In heavy soils, 10-15 days interval.
  • If water scarcity is the there irrigate the crop in alternate row, to save the water. Drip irrigation can save the water up 40 per cent per cent.

Sulphur deficient soils

  • Application of sulphur in the form of Gypsum @ 500 kg /ha to sulphur deficient soils to increase the cane yield and juice quality.

Cotton

Sucking pests

  • To manage sucking pests, take up spraying of 0.3 ml Imidachloprid or 0.25 gram Thiomethoxam dissolved in one liter of water.

Citrus

Leaf Minor

  • To manage leaf minor, take up spraying of 0.3 ml Indaxicarb or 0.2 gram Emamectin Benzoate, dissolved in one loiter of water.

Canker disease

  • To manager canker disease, remove the dried branches and take up spraying of 1 per cent Boraux mixture.

Black fly

  • To manage, Black fly, take up spraying of 2.5 ml Trizopho dissolved in one liter of water.

Gummosis and wilt diseases

  • To manage Gummosis and wilt diseases, paste the gum prepared by mixing 4 gram Ridimil gold + 3 gram Blitox + 50 gram Red Oxide in one liter of water and pour 2-3 liters of mixture prepared by dissolving 5 ml Hexaconazole in one liter of water at the bottom of the plant.

Grapes

Control of pests and diseases

  • Take up spraying of 1.7 ml Dimethoate or 0.5 ml Phosphomedon or 1 ml Monocrotophos along with 3 g Copper Oxy Chloride or 2 g Mencozeb or 1 g Carbandizeme dissolved in on liter of water to the fresh shoots. This will control most of the main insect pests and Downey mildew and Anthracnose diseases.

Leaves red and dying veins

  • To manage reddening of leaves and dying of vines, take up spraying of 0.5 gram Streptocycline Sulphate + 2.5 gram Blitox dissolved in one liter of water and pour 2-3 liters of mixture prepared by dissolving 2 gram of Bavistin + 3 gram Blitox in one liter of water at the bottom of the plant.

Pomegranate

Bacterial blight disease

  • To manage Bacterial blight disease, spray the crop with Streptomycin Sulphate 0.5 g + Copper oxy-chloride 2 g dissolved in one liter water. Then take up spraying of micro nutrients viz., 1 g Zinc Sulphate + 1 g Magnessium Sulphate + 1 g Barax + 1 g Calcium dissolved in one liter of water.

Sucking pests

  • To manage sucking pests, take up spraying of 0.3 ml Imidachloprid or 0.25 ml Trimethoxam dissolved in one liter of water.

Anthracnose

  • To manage Anthracnose, take up spraying of 2 gram Chlorothelonil or 1 ml Score dissolved in one liter of water.

Tomato

Leaf curl

  • To manage leaf curl disease, take up spraying of 1 ml Acetamaprid dissolved in 4 liter of water.

Sucking pests

  • To manage sucking pests, take up spraying of 1.75 ml Dimethate, dissolved in one liter of water.

Livestock

Foot and Mouth disease

  • Vaccinate livestock against Foot and Mouth disease (FMD vaccination), Black Quarter disease (BC vaccination) and Haemorrhagic Septcaemia.
  • Care should be taken that excess moisture is not there in the Vermin-compost pits.
  • Vaccinate (ET vaccine) sheep and goats against Enterotoximia.
