Toria
Suitable Varieties
- T-9
- 2. BR-23
- 3. PT-303
- 4. Panchali
Sowing
- Start sowing of Rapeseed (Toria) crop after harvesting of green or black gram.
Seed Rate
- 2 to 2.5 kg seeds
Urea
- 44 kg Urea, 66 kg Single Super Phosphate and 16 kg Muriate of Potash are required for cultivation in one acre.
Distance
- Sow the seed in line at a distance of 30 cm (Row to row) and 10 cm. (Plant to plant).
Green Gram
Harvesting Stage
- To conserve soil moisture in the field, inter-culture operation is needed. Timely sown Green gram is at maturity stage. Harvest the crop during clear weather and store them at safer place ie. in shade. Maintain the bunds of the médium and low land field under rice to store rain water.
Black Gram
Harvesting Stage
- To conserve soil moisture in the field, inter-culture operation is needed. Timely sown Black gram is at maturity stage. Harvest the crop during clear weather and store them at safer place ie. in shade. Maintain the bunds of the médium and low land field under rice to store rain water.
Maize
Suitable Varieties
- Birsa Vikas Maize2
- 2. Birsa Maize-1
- 3. Priya Suwan
- 4. Composite
Harvesting Stage
- Timely sown (June) medium duration maize crops are at maturity stage. Harvest them during clear weather.
Fruiting stage - Fruit borer
- Late sown crops are at fruiting stage. If the crops are attacked by fruit borer, spray neem based insecticide on upper part of the plant @ 2-3 ml per liter of water.
Grain filling stage
- It is the time of watch and ward where the maize crops are at grain filling stage. Alternative methodology is to tag shinning wire around the field, which repels the birds.
Paddy
Suitable Varieties
- Naveen
- 2. Lalat
Flowering stage - Gandhi bug
- Late sown direct seeded rice crops are at flowering or milking stage and this stage is susceptible to the attack of the insect Gandhi bug. To control the insects, dusting of Chlorpyriphos/Quinolphos/Methyl Parathion dust @ 10 kg per acre is recommended. However, dusting should be performed during clear weather. The alternative method (in the case of unavailability of the insecticides), is of dusting coal/wood ash mixed with kerosén oil.
Stem borer
- In some pockets, crops are attacked either by stem borer or leaf eating insects. Broadcast granular insecticides like Carbofuran 3G (@12 kg per acre) or Phorate 10 G (@ 4 kg per acre) to control them. However, stagnate water is essential during broadcasting of these insecticides.
Blast and Brown spot
- In some patches crops are attacked by blast disease (in which boat shaped brown spot appears on the leaves. The spots have ash colour in center and deep brown stripes on margin). As and when these symptoms appear, immediately spray the fungicide Beam @ 5 gram per 10 liter of water during clear weather. The spraying of Beam also protects the crop against other fungal disease.

Suitable Varieties
- Kufri
- 2. Ashoka
- 3. Kufri
- 4. Pukhraj
- 5. Kufri
- 6. Kanchan
- 7. Kufri
- 8. Pushkar
- 9. Kufri
- 10. Lalima

- 1. Arkel
- 2. Pusa Pragati
- 3. Pm-113 Kashi
- 4. Nandini Azad
- 5. Pea-1, if assured irrigation is available.

Distance
- Sow the seed at the distance of 30 cm (between row) and 15 cm (between plant) on ridge.
Seed Treatment
- Before seeding the seeds must be treated with Rhizobium culture.
