Paddy

Yellow stem borer

  • Upon observation of yellow stem borer in the fields, leaves with egg groups should be removed and destroyed. The plants where dead heart has been formed, should be taken out from the plants so that caterpillars are destroyed.

Stem borer

  • For monitoring of stem borer in rice crop, Pheromone trap should be used @ 2-3 nos. per acre and @ 8-10 nos. per acre for controlling insects.

Brown Plant Hopper

  • Phorate insecticide should not be used for Brown Plant Hopper infested rice fields. For control of BPH, Imidachloprid 125 ml or Ithiprole+ Imidacholprid @ 150 ml insecticide should be sprayed in 200 litres water/acre.

  • In those regions where rice crop has been damaged to the tune of 70 per cent, farmers are advised to prepare their field plans for rabi season.

Sheath blight

  • Symptoms of sheath blight in rice crop are dusty spots on rice stems and spots surrounded by violet colored patches. Farmers should spray Hexaconazole fungicide @ 1ml/litre of water on the affected parts. If necessary, spray should be repeated after 12-15 days.

Bacterial Leaf Blight

  • Bacterial Leaf Blight (BLB) in rice fields can be controlled by draining off water from rice fields. After 3-4 days, 25 Kg. Potash per hectare can be broadcast for control.

Rabi Crops

Sowing

  • Farmers should ensure availability of seeds, fertilizers and other agricultural inputs for sowing of rabi cops like chickpea, wheat, linseed, toria, maize, vegetables, moong, urad and other forage crops etc. The sowing should be completed in the month of October as per facilities available. For this farmers should take the benefit of govt. subsidies.

  • For avoiding the fruit shedding in papaya crop, Nepthalene Acetic Acid (NAA) should be sprayed @ 20 ppm.

Do's

  • Don’t keep the large number of animals in the shed. Arrange the proper place for each animal and make the ventilated shed.
  • Due to high temperature and humidity dehydration there can be problems in animals. Therefore the animals should be given more salty water. Dairy shed should be dry and clean and water bucket should be kept in shade.
  • In September months goats & sheep should be given Entoroctosimia Vaccine at the age of 6-10 weeks to lambs.
