Paddy

Nursery

  • To reduce moisture stress and improve seedling vigor, spray 19:19:19 or Multi-K @ 1 g L-1 of water during the morning or evening hours.
  • Protect nursery seedlings from strong surface winds by maintaining firm bunds around the nursery.
  • After thunderstorms, inspect the nursery for seedling lodging or uprooting and restore affected seedlings.

Iron deficiency

  • For iron deficiency, spray ferrous sulphate (FeSO₄) @ 0.5% (5 g/L water) at 7–10 day intervals, as needed.
  • maintain adequate soil moisture in the nursery through timely irrigation to ensure healthy seedling growth.

Nurseries

  • Transplant healthy 20–25-day-old seedlings during the morning or evening.
  • Provide 20 cm wide alleyways while preparing the main field for easy field operations.
  • Apply 1/3rd recommended N and the entire P₂O₅ and K₂O as basal dose during the last puddling.
  • Apply Butachlor @ 1.25 L acre-1 or Pretilachlor @ 400 mL acre-1 at 3–5 DAT, mixed with 20–25 kg dry sand acre-1, and maintain a thin water layer after application.
  • Maintain adequate soil moisture through timely irrigation during dry spells and avoid prolonged moisture stress, especially during early crop establishment.
  • If nursery sowing is delayed, raise and incorporate green manure crops such as sunhemp or dhaincha before transplanting to improve soil moisture retention and soil fertility.
  • Adopt moisture conservation practices such as field bunding and mulching wherever feasible, and use available irrigation water judiciously during prolonged dry periods.
  • If nursery sowing is delayed, raise and incorporate green manure crops such as sunhemp or dhaincha before transplanting.

Fertilizer Management

  • Due to the continued rainfall deficit and low soil moisture, provide lifesaving irrigation at regular intervals to maintain adequate moisture in the nursery.

Blast

  • Monitor the nursery for blast and sheath blight.
  • Spray Tricyclazole 75 WP @ 0.6 g L-1 against blast and Hexaconazole 5 EC @ 2 mL L-1 of water against sheath blight if symptoms are noticed.

Weed Control

  • Control weeds at 25–30 DAS by spraying 2,4-D Amine Salt 58% EC @ 2 mL L-1 + Urea @ 10 g L-1 of water or Almix (Metsulfuron Methyl 10% + Chlorimuron Ethyl 10% WP) @ 8 g acre-1 in 200 L of water.
  • Provide lifesaving irrigation, wherever possible, to protect the crop from moisture stress.
  • If irrigation is not available, spray 19:19:19 or Multi-K @ 5 g L-1 of water during the morning or evening hours to alleviate moisture stress.
  • In fields where sowing is yet to be taken up, wait for adequate rainfall, prefer shortand medium-duration varieties, and apply Pendimethalin 38.7% CS @ 700 mL acre-1 immediately or within 2 days after sowing for effective weed management.

Maize

Weed Control

  • Maintain adequate soil moisture by providing life-saving irrigation wherever possible. Under moisture stress, spray 19:19:19 or Multi-K @ 5 g L-1 of water during the morning or evening hours.
  • Keep the field weed-free through timely intercultivation and weed management to conserve soil moisture and ensure better crop growth.
  • At 15–18 DAS, apply Tembotrione @ 115 mL + Atrazine @ 400 g acre-1 for effective control of both grassy and broadleaf weeds.
  • Where broadleaf weeds predominate at around 30 DAS, spray 2,4-D Sodium Salt @ 500 g acre-1 to suppress weed growth and minimize competition for moisture and nutrients.
  • Monitor the crop regularly for fall armyworm. Spraying of neem oil or neem kernel extract @5% during early stages of the crop to avoid fall army worm infestation in the maize crop.

Cotton

Weed Control

  • Carry out intercultivation and earthing-up to conserve soil moisture and control weeds.
  • Provide life-saving irrigation, wherever possible.
  • Under moisture stress, spray 19:19:19 or Multi-K @ 5 g L-1 of water during the morning or evening hours.

Sucking pests

  • Install 10 yellow sticky traps acre-1 for monitoring whiteflies, 10 blue sticky traps acre-1 for thrips, and 5 pheromone traps acre-1 for pink bollworm.
  • On noticing sucking pest incidence, spray Imidacloprid 17.8 SL @ 0.3 mL L-1 of water or Thiamethoxam 25 WG @ 0.2 g L-1 of water.

Spodoptera

  • If tobacco caterpillar, Spodoptera or early pink bollworm infestation is observed, spray Chlorantraniliprole 18.5 SC @ 0.3 mL L-1 of water.

Alternaria leaf spot

  • Regularly inspect the crop for Alternaria leaf spot .
  • If symptoms appear, spray Copper Oxychloride @ 3 g L-1 of water.

Bacterial leaf blight

  • Regularly inspect the crop for bacterial leaf blight.
  • If symptoms appear, spray Copper Oxychloride @ 3 g L-1 of water.

Red Gram

Seed treatment

  • Light, red and black soils with good drainage is good for redgram. Saline soils and water logged soils are not suitable.
  • Farmers are advised to complete redgram sowing during June–July with the onset of monsoon rains using certified, drought-tolerant varieties suitable for the region.
  • Treat seed with Rhizobium and PSB cultures along with Trichoderma viride @ 10 g kg1 seed before sowing to improve nodulation and reduce wilt incidence.
  • Apply well-decomposed FYM @ 4–5 tonnes acre-1 during land preparation and follow soil test-based fertilizer recommendations.

Inter Cultivation

  • Conserve soil moisture through timely intercultivation and other moisture conservation practices.

Nutrient deficiency

  • Foliar nutrient recommendation: Spray DAP @ 2%, 19:19:19 @ 1%, or a multi-micronutrient mixture @ 0.5% to promote crop growth and correct nutrient deficiencies.

Live Stock

BUFFALO

  • Ensure adequate clean drinking water, green/dry fodder, and mineral mixture during dry spells.
  • During prolonged dry spells, avoid sudden changes in feed and conserve available green and dry fodder to ensure adequate fodder availability.
  • Maintain cleanliness and proper drainage around animal sheds.
  • Secure animal sheds and fencing against strong winds.
  • Monitor livestock for HS, BQ, FMD, and parasitic infestations and follow recommended vaccination and deworming schedules.

Black Gram

Inter Cultivation

  • Conserve soil moisture through timely intercultivation and other moisture conservation practices to minimize moisture stress during flowering and pod formation.

  • Spray multi-micronutrient mixture @ 0.5% to correct nutrient deficiencies and improve crop growth.
  • Avoid intercultivation when the soil is too dry to prevent further moisture loss and damage to crop roots.
  • Monitor the crop regularly for pest and disease incidence, and take suitable control measures based on local recommendations.

Precautionary Measures

  • Due to the rainfall received during the past week and the prevailing humid weather, there is a possibility of increased incidence of whiteflies, aphids and tobacco caterpillar.
